Original Medicare plans often cover most of the costs for health care services and medical supplies but not all of it. Sold by private companies, Medicare Supplement or Medigap is an extra layer of insurance to protect you from the gaps often left behind by original Medicare plans.

Medicare Prescription Drug Plans

As the prices of medications continue to rise, you must make sure you have a plan for paying for your routinely administered medications. Original Medicare covers prescription drugs you receive during inpatient care or outpatient clinics, but it fails to cover most prescription drugs needed outside those two situations. To ensure your medication is covered, you can either sign up for a Medicare Advantage plan or add a Medicare Prescription Plan to help with the cost.
